Gemello Revive has been shortlisted for a prestigious British Construction and Infrastructure Award, recognising its role in the successful refurbishment of St Nicholas Leisure Centre in Warwick.
The project has been named as a finalist in the Social Infrastructure Project Award category at the British Construction and Infrastructure Awards 2026, celebrating projects that deliver lasting value for communities through innovation, collaboration and excellence in construction.
Delivered in partnership with Warwick District Council, Stace Roofing and Solfit, the refurbishment saw the installation of the Gemello Revive overclad roofing system alongside 252 integrated solar PV panels on the leisure centre’s existing roof. The solution transformed a building dating back to the 1980s into a modern, energy-efficient facility while avoiding the cost, waste and disruption associated with a full roof replacement.
The project was completed in just two weeks-half the originally planned programme-to meet a critical Sport England funding deadline. Despite the compressed timescale, the installation was delivered on budget, with zero accidents and minimal disruption, allowing the leisure centre to remain operational throughout the majority of the works.
By combining Gemello Revive with the Solfit integrated photovoltaic system, the project not only improved the thermal performance of the building but also created a roof capable of generating renewable electricity. The upgraded facility is expected to reduce carbon emissions by approximately 14 tonnes each year while delivering energy cost savings of around £14,000 annually.
The project also highlights the benefits of refurbishment over replacement. By retaining the existing roof structure and installing the overclad system, significant amounts of material were kept out of landfill while extending the building’s service life with a long-term warranted roofing solution.
The shortlist recognises the technical expertise and collaborative approach of everyone involved in delivering the project and further demonstrates how refurbishment systems such as Gemello Revive can help modernise existing buildings quickly, efficiently and with minimal disruption.
