Anne-Marie Allen is Project Coordinator for SIG Building Solutions, based in the Warnell offices, just a 20-minute drive south of Carlisle in Cumbria.
She joined the business in November 2025 in this administrative role, supporting all members of the Gemello® team and reporting to Chris Fitzpatrick, Product Manager and business lead for Gemello® metal roofing systems. Anne-Marie brings a wide range of administrative experience, and her goal is to help make office processes more effective and efficient for the team and customers alike.
Anne-Marie has had an eclectic career, all based in office administration. She started her working life as an MOD civil servant, following her parents into this area, as her father was in the army and her mother a civil servant. After 5 years on an army base, she transferred to the RAF Staff College for 3 years, initially in the estates office and then in the defence studies library.
Following a five-year break to have her daughter, she started working part-time as an administrative assistant to the Schools Liaison Officer in the Army Careers Service for 3 years, working with secondary schools across Berkshire.
She then moved to a new full-time role with Thames Valley University in professional development, helping to create a level 4 teaching certificate for adult learners.
After this project was completed, she moved to a petrochemical engineering company (which ultimately became AmecFosterWheeler, then the Wood Group). Here, she initially supported their mechanical and civil engineers working within the engineering department for 7 years, then moved to their infrastructure projects department for 5 years as Principal Secretary.
In 2019, she took on a position with Thames Water on the clean water side as a street works co-ordinator, based in Reading and covering London for 5 years, ensuring work permits were in place for work to be carried out.
Then, following a holiday in Keswick, Cumbria, in 2021, she fell in love with the area, and, on returning south, told her family that she had decided to move north when the right opportunity came along. In 2024, she found a terraced miners cottage in Aspatria (20 mins north of Workington), and eventually relocated in 2025 and applied for the role at SIG Building Solutions in Warnell.
At SIG Building Solutions, Anne-Marie is Project Coordinator, supporting the Gemello® team. She is based in the office full-time, so she is essentially the gatekeeper, fielding calls, assisting with the processing of quotations, developing databases, writing reports, and working with spreadsheets.
It’s a varied administrative role, and each day is different, which is exactly how she likes it. She keeps everyone in check – and who would argue with her, now they know she has a brown belt in mixed martial arts!
