FAQs - Gemello® Revive
1What is Gemello® Revive?
Gemello® Revive is an overcladding system designed for contractors upgrading existing buildings. It improves fire and thermal performance without full façade replacement, making it ideal for refurbishment projects.
2What types of projects is Gemello® Revive suitable for?
Gemello® Revive is suitable for industrial, commercial and mixed-use refurbishment projects where existing façades need upgrading without major disruption or strip-back.
3Can Gemello® Revive be installed on live or occupied buildings?
Yes. Gemello® Revive is designed to support refurbishment on live and occupied buildings, helping contractors minimise disruption, manage access challenges and protect programme certainty.
4What overcladding build-ups are available with Gemello® Revive?
Gemello® Revive offers over twin skin, over single skin, fibre cement and composite overcladding build-ups, providing flexibility for different existing building types and refurbishment requirements.
5What is meant by “over twin skin” overcladding?
Over twin skin overcladding involves installing the new system over an existing twin-skin façade, improving performance without removing the original building envelope.
6What is meant by “over single skin” overcladding?
Over single skin overcladding upgrades lightweight or single-skin buildings by adding insulation, and weather protection without full replacement.
7Why is fibre cement overcladding a key USP for Gemello® Revive?
Fibre cement offers durability, fire performance and robustness, making it well suited to refurbishment projects. Gemello® Revive includes various fibre cement solutions.
8What are the benefits of composite overcladding in refurbishment projects?
Composite overcladding offers a clean appearance, predictable installation and consistent performance, making it suitable for many commercial and industrial refurbishments.
9How does Gemello® Revive address moisture control and condensation risk?
Gemello® Revive integrates Vapour Control Layer (VCL) design at system level, helping manage moisture movement and reduce the risk of condensation issues when upgrading existing buildings.
10Does Gemello® Revive help with Part L compliance?
Yes. Gemello® Revive supports thermal upgrades that help contractors meet current energy performance requirements as part of refurbishment projects.
11How does overcladding help reduce disruption compared to full façade replacement?
Overcladding avoids major strip-back works, reducing noise, dust, waste and downtime, which is particularly important on live or occupied sites.
12Is Gemello® Revive supplied as a complete system?
Yes. Gemello® Revive is supplied as a coordinated overcladding system rather than a collection of individual components.
13Is there a system warranty available with Gemello® Revive?
Yes. Gemello® Revive is backed by a SIG-supported system warranty, providing reassurance and reducing risk for contractors and clients.
14What are the benefits of a single-source warranty for contractors?
A single-source warranty simplifies responsibility, reduces interface risk and helps avoid disputes related to performance or accountability after project completion.
15Does Gemello® Revive reduce interface risk on refurbishment projects?
Yes. By supplying a complete system from a single source, Gemello® Revive reduces the number of interfaces that contractors need to manage on site.
16What level of technical support is available?
Gemello® Revive is supported from through to installation, with technical guidance to help contractors select the right build-up and plan works effectively.
17How long will it take for SIG Building Solutions to supply the solar carport structure?
Once we have received all survey results, the layout design is agreed and we have received a PO from our client, the lead time for delivery of the solar structure is between 6-8 weeks. This includes 3 weeks for construction drawings that will need to be signed off by our client.
18Can Gemello® Revive support early-stage surveys and feasibility assessments?
Yes. Technical support is available at early stages to help assess existing buildings and determine the most appropriate overcladding approach.
19Is Gemello® Revive suitable for buildings with unknown or complex existing façades?
Yes. Gemello® Revive is designed to work around existing structures, making it suitable for refurbishment projects where original construction details may be unclear.
20Can Gemello® Revive help reduce programme risk?
Yes. By minimising strip-back and simplifying installation sequencing, Gemello® Revive helps contractors maintain programme certainty on refurbishment projects.
21Is Gemello® Revive suitable for phased refurbishment works?
Yes. Overcladding systems can be installed in phases, making Gemello® Revive suitable for projects where works need to be sequenced around occupancy.
